Our Learn to Skate program is perfect for kids ages 6 and up, offering age-appropriate instruction that builds confidence on the ice. Each class focuses on skill, development while also encouraging fun and expressive skating.
13 weeks: Fridays, January 9th to April 24th, 2026
No classes on: January 16th, February 13th, April 3rd, 2026

50 minute classes:
Session includes a 10 minute warm up and a 5 minute cool down
Skill-building 35 minute lessons for beginner and intermediate skaters
Develop precise movements and control
Skaters progress through six levels of achievement
Emphasis on correct posture and edges
Designed for skaters who have passed Start-Skate and our ready to learn beginner to intermediate skills

At The Skating Studio we focus on strong fundamentals, small group sizes, and an engaging approach to learning. Skaters are grouped by age and skill level at the start of each session, allowing coaches to tailor lessons to each group’s needs.
This approach supports steady progress and builds confidence on the ice. Our lessons incorporate music, creative tools, and on-ice activities to keep learning fun and interactive. With bubbles, pylons, stickers, and even washable markers on the ice, we create an energetic, positive learning environment that keeps skaters motivated!
What to Expect
Age Groups
Classes are designed for children 6 years of age and up. Skaters will learn forward and backward skating, turns, stops crossovers, edges and turns. Emphasis is placed on proper posture, positioning and skating techniques suited to their age and skill level.
Learn additional skating skills such as beginning jumps spins, footwork and field movements helping skaters feel confident on the ice.
Guidance
Our comprehensive skating program is built on the core principles of Agility, Balance, and Coordination (ABCs). With structured lessons that include a dynamic warm-up and cool-down, skaters develop essential skills such as body awareness, edge control, speed, and endurance. By mastering skating skills our students establish a strong foundation for success in figure skating, hockey, or recreational skating.
